Batán Grande & Sicán National Museum Day Trip
Batán Grande & Sicán National Museum Day Trip
After picking you up from your hotel at 8 am, we'll board our minibus and set off on our day trip. We'll head to Batán Grande, an archaeological site made up of twenty truncated pyramids.
When we get there, we'll visit the 115-foot (35-metre) high Huaca del Oro pyramid. After being excavated, the remains of the grandson or nephew of the Lord of Sicán were discovered inside. Batán Grande is also nestled within the Pómac Forest, which is home to a variety of bird species and a carob tree that's over 400 years old.
The second pyramid that'll draw your attention is Huaca la Ventana. While initially it was thought to have been built by the Chimú culture, it was actually built by the Lambayeques. Some of the objects found inside were melted down and sold, but thankfully the wall paintings about the ocean have been left intact.
On our way back, we'll stop at the Sicán National Museum. Inside, you'll get a clear idea of what daily life was like in the Sicán culture. We'll also see how they worked ceramics and metals, as well exploring the tombs belonging to members of the nobility.
Once our visit has come to an end, we'll leave Batán Grande behind and make our way back to your hotel in Chiclayo. We'll drop you off at 1 pm. See you next time!
