Guided tour of Chichén Itzá

  • 93 reviews | 1,757 travellers
Marco, our guide, was very kind. He explained a lot about the Mayans and the culture. We could ask him anything we wanted and he had photos from the past that helped us better understand the context. Chichén Itzá was impressive. He also spoke the Mayan language and explained a few words to us. Thank you very much!!

Chichén Itzá Guided Tour

We'll meet at the scheduled time at the Chichén Itzá Archaeological Site in the north of the Yucatán Peninsula. From here, we'll begin our guided tour and travel back in time to the golden age of Mayan civilisation.

Accompanied by a guide expert in local history, we'll discover why this site is considered one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. We'll learn about the myths and realities of one of the most important Maya cities of the pre-Hispanic era. We'll talk about architecture, culture, art, and history and we'll even teach you words in the language spoken by the Maya!

The best-known image of Chichén Itzá is the mythical and imposing pyramid dedicated to the God Kukulkán. Known as 'The Castle' by the conquistadors, this temple dominated the religious life of the region, functioning as a giant sacred calendar for the Mayans.

During our tour of Chichén Itzá, we'll see the Temple of the Warriors and its thousand columns with their engravings up close. We'll also discover the reality of the Mesoamerican ballgame, a sacred sport played by the pre-hispanic civilisations of Mexico.

Next, we'll also discover the Temple of the Jaguars, the Tzompantli and its enigmatic engravings in the form of skulls, the Platform of the Eagles, and many more significant corners of the majestic Chichén Itzá. After 2 hours, we'll end the tour and say farewell.
