Chiang Rai Trekking
Chiang Rai Trekking
Day 1
The adventure begins at 10 am: we'll pick you up from your hotel in Chiang Rai and head down to the banks of the Kok River where we'll board a traditional longtail boat and set sail along this important waterway. After an hour's cruise, we'll disembark back onto dry land, where we'll have the opportunity to meet some of the members of the Karen hill tribe who live in this area of northern Thailand. We'll then indulge in lunch in a local restaurant to build up energy for our hike.
Having eaten, we'll set off on our trekking route, passing through rice paddies and bamboo forests to reach a viewpoint from which we'll have unparalleled views over the lush mountain landscapes. Hiking through the verdant tropical forests, we'll next reach the village Yafu, where we'll be welcomed by members of the Lahu hill tribe to enjoy a delicious dinner before spending the night in a bamboo cabin.
Day 2
After a hearty breakfast, we'll set off on a two hour trek in the direction of another hill tribe village. Having reached our destination, our guide will prepare a mouth-watering lunch with bamboo using a unique traditional technique. We'll then have the opportunity to relax after trekking in Chiang Rai, heading to some nearby hot springs to soothe our hardworking muscles!
At the end of our two-day hike in the mountains of northern Thailand, we'll make the return journey to hotels in Chiang Rai.
3 Day Trek
When making your reservation, you'll have the choice between doing a two-day trek or a three-day trek around Chiang Rai. If you choose the second option, on the second day of our hike, we'll visit the beautiful Huay Mae Sai Waterfalls and meet people of the Akha hill tribe.
We'll swap the bamboo cabins for tents on the second night and stay close to Yafu village, before spending our third day hiking to the Karen village and heading to the hot springs for the finishing touch on our three-day trek. At 3 pm on the third day, you'll be dropped back off in Chiang Rai.
Accommodation
If you choose the two-day trekking route, the activity includes one night's accommodation in the bamboo cabins of the Lahu hill tribe. If you select the three-day tour, you'll spend the second night in tents instead.
