Discover the Old City and the most important Buddhist temples in northern Thailand on this fantastic private tour of Chiang Mai!
Description
At 8 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Chiang Mai to begin exploring some of the city's most emblematic sites and important temples. Chiang Mai has more than 700 years of history to discover!
The tour will start with a visit to the Wat Phra Singh Temple, one of the city's most popular and lavish sanctuaries. Located in the western part of the Old City, Wat Phra Singh has origins that date all the way back to the mid-14th century!
Next, we visit the Wat Chedi Luang Temple, formerly used as a fortress for protection against Burmese invasions. Inside, we'll see the huge chedi where the Emerald Buddha once sat. Continuing on through the city's historic center, the guide will take us to see the Wat Chiang Man Temple, the oldest in the city of Chiang Mai. You'll love admiring the different spaces and the many elephant figures in its chedi.
We'll then explore a unique wooden temple, slightly hidden despite its central location. Here we'll marvel at the beautiful woodwork and the temple's large Buddha. Some days, you can even see rituals performed here!
After soaking up the grandeur of some of the city's most important temples, we'll visit a local fruit and vegetable market, where we'll learn all about the products used in Thai cuisine. Then, after four to four and a half hours of exploring Chiang Mai, the tour will end.
