Market Tour of Chennai

We will meet up in front of the statue of King George V, in the center of the city. From there, we will begin our wonderful tour through the charming markets and bazaars of Chennai.

Out first stop is Sowcarpet, one of the oldest and most important commercial areas of the city. As you stroll along the captivating streets and among the stalls, you will learn all about the city's history of trading, from its origins through to the present day.

Later, we walk to Godown Street, the best shopping area for textiles, dresses, saris, and other colorful, Indian garments. Our professional guide will explain to you about the traditional uses of these outfits and you can buy one as a souvenir of your amazing experience in Chennai.

After exploring Godown Street, we will head to Black Town and George Town, two enchanting areas characterized by bustling, picturesque alleys, street sellers, and colorful artisan market stalls. This is the Indian shopping experience in its purest form.

Then, we will visit Parry's Corner market, one of the favorite areas for both locals and tourists to make some purchases. Each street is dedicated to a specific product such as saris, rugs, handicrafts, and lamps.

Our tour of Chennai's marketplaces concludes with a visit to the Burma Bazaar, which is run by refugees from Myanmar. Here you can find wonderful tech products and perfumes at amazing prices.
