Thermal Springs Tour
Description
We'll pick you up from your hotel at the selected time and get into a minibus to begin our fantastic tour of the Portuguese Water Route.
First, we'll head to Vidago, a small village whose medicinal waters are recommended by specialists to treat diseases such as gout or diabetes. Here we'll visit the spa and taste the local mineral water which has been produced since 1886.
Then we'll return to Chaves, the capital of the Alto Tâmega region. The Roman name for this place was Aquae Flaviae, demonstrating the importance of its waters for society. We'll visit the Roman baths, used to treat ailments such as rheumatism and skin problems thanks to their high silica content. Afterward, we'll have a break so you can have lunch on your own. Those who wish to can try the star product of the area, the Chaves cake.
After the break, we'll continue along the Water Route and cross the border into Spain to visit the castle of Monterrey, a fortress-palace from the 10th century, before heading to the beautiful Galician town of Verin. This town is known for its natural springs, from which water is extracted and sold all over the Iberian Peninsula, such as Cabreiroa, Fontenova, and Sousa. We'll have the opportunity to visit its spas and taste these waters and those of Fonte do Sapo and Caldeliñas.
Finally, we'll return and drop you off at your hotel 6 hours after pickup.
