Charleston Walking Tour
At the indicated time, we'll meet across from the Harbor View Inn at Waterfront Park and start this walking tour of Charleston. Get ready to dive into the city's rich history.
Kicking things off at the picturesque Waterfront Park, we'll head south towards The Battery. As we walk, we’ll chat about the history of the early fort of Charles Towne. You'll hear all the tales and anecdotes about this city while soaking in the sights.
We'll spend some time relaxing in the shade of 300-year-old oak trees at White Point Gardens, enjoying the cool ocean breeze. Here, we’ll delve into the area's vibrant history, from the early fort to the bustling city it is today.
Strolling up Meeting Street, we’ll pass beautiful mansions and learn about the history found in every corner. You’ll see everything from old slave markets to grand churches, historic theatres, and even the very balcony where George Washington addressed the people of Charleston 227 years ago.
Along the way, you’ll see stunning window boxes, charming antebellum homes, and countless buildings where significant historical events unfolded. We’ll uncover the original defensive wall of Charleston, the famous Pineapple Fountain, and the site of a large British fort from the Revolutionary War.
We’ll end up back near Waterfront Park after a total of 2.5 hours, brimming with newfound knowledge.
