Private Tour of Charleston
This seaside town has a rich and storied past and is home to many significant landmarks. We'll pick you up from your hotel and head straight into the downtown area where we'll begin our route through the city's iconic waterfront.
First up, is a visit to The Battery, a prominent historic landmark popular among tourists. Originally constructed as a defensive seawall, the structure played a crucial role in the city's protection during the Civil War era. Now, it's been converted into a beautiful promenade, lined with traditional antebellum houses, boasting picturesque gardens that characterize the U.S. South. We'll stroll the promenade, taking in the grandeur of these historic houses dating back to the 18th century while marveling at the scenic waterfront view.
From here, we'll arrive at White Point Park, home to several Civil War memorials and an ideal spot for locals to enjoy a breath of fresh air thanks to the abundant gardens and natural spaces throughout the grounds. Then, we'll head over to the Old Exchange and Provost Dungeon. Completed in 1771 and serving various public functions over the years, it's one of only four remaining structures where the U.S. Constitution was ratified in 1788.
Continuing our historic route, we'll visit Marion Square, which dates back to the 18th century. Nowadays, it's the main venue for popular events and festivals that take place in the city. Next up, we'll pass through King Street, which was originally the city's main street, now converted into a high-scale shopping destination full of designer brand shops.
Moving on to a more colorful side of Charleston's history, we'll stroll down Rainbow Row, a street along the Cooper River lined with 13 vibrantly colored houses perfectly encompassing the historic and southern charm of the city. Additionally, we'll also pass through Waterfront Park Pier, also near Cooper River and home to more historical monuments.
Lastly, we'll head to Old Mount Pleasant, home to the Old Village. Right by the Charleston Harbor, you'll soak up the real Southern vibes: charming homes, moss-covered oaks, and a spectacular view of the Charleston Waterfront.
Finally, after a jam-packed 3-hour tour through the historic town, we'll bring you back to your hotel.
