Hiking in Imbros Gorge
Hiking in Imbros Gorge
Starting at 8:30 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Chania and set off on a journey that will take us to one of the most popular gorges in Crete: the Imbros Gorge.
After an hour's drive, we'll arrive at our destination and you'll have 20 minutes free time for a coffee. At 10:40 am we'll start the route along ancient rocky paths. As well as enjoying the unique scenery, we'll tell you curious facts about the area. For example, did you know that this canyon was the scene of numerous battles between Ottomans and Christians?
We'll hike through the Imbros Gorge in the direction of Komitades. Halfway along the route, we'll reach the narrowest and most impressive point of the gorge. The walls are less than 2 metres from each other, and more than 300 metres high!
After a three-hour trek, we'll have reached Komitades, where we'll board the bus for the Frangokastello, a Venetian fortress, and Chora Sfakion, a small village on the south coast, where you can enjoy the crystal-clear beaches and wooded areas. You'll have two hours of free time for swimming and lunch in a taverna - perfect for relaxing after the hiking tour!
After the free time, we'll get back in the vehicle to return to Chania. Arrival time is scheduled at 6:30 pm.
