Rock Garden and Sukhna Lake Tour
After meeting up at the gates of Rock Garden at the selected start time, we begin our tour of the park, during which we will see thousands of sculptures made with recycled materials. You will hear how, in 1960, a local artist started to clean up a small forest and decided to create works of art with the bits of glass and plastic which they gathered up.
The project of Nek Chand is full of paths, waterfalls, and sculptures, and has become a symbol for the city. More than 5000 people visit Rock Garden every day.
After leaving Rock Garden, we will explore Nagar Van forest park, also known as City Forest. This is the ideal space for hiking lovers. You will discover an infinite amount of trails, a bridge, and even a cabin hidden in this wonderful, tranquil corner of the city. The only sounds that are heard here are the more than 20 bird species that inhabit this area.
Then we head to the Lake Sukhna reservoir, which was created in 1958 by damming a water stream coming down from the Sivalik Hills at the foot of the Himalayas. This idyllic area has become a favorite recreation and leisure space for the inhabitants of Chandigarh.
After touring the lovely parkland areas of this city for around 2 hours, our tour finishes on the shores of Lake Sukhna.
