Have you ever tried the delicious papri chaat appetizer, or the famous naan and kulcha bread? Now is your chance to experience them in their traditional homeland, prepared with the original recipes, when you take our food tour of Chandigarh.
After meeting up at the starting point, in front of the Kiran Cinema, we will begin our walk through the enchanting city streets. You will be introduced to the local way of life as we browse the different Hindu food stalls and taste the regional delicacies. Many of these businesses are family run and have been passed down through generation after generation.
During the tour, you will try up to 7 different plates. The venues that we visit on the tour vary according to the season of the year in which you are visiting. However, you will always try a wide variety of recipes whatever date you take the tour.
The different snacks you can try include chole kulch, a type of flatbread which is usually accompanied by chickpeas; the paratha, another type of bread which is cooked in a pan and filled with vegetables; and papri chaat, which are small wafers which are often served with potatoes or yogurt.
You will also taste a delicious tandoori chai tea, accompanied by sweets. You will witness the fascinating way this local drink is prepared in a traditional Kulhar clay cup.
The tour ends at the Garg Chaat food stall, with our bellies full and having tried many of the region's traditional delicacies.
