Huancas & Sonche Canyon Day Trip
Huancas & Sonche Canyon Day Trip
We'll pick you up at your hotel at the selected time and head to Huancas, less than 10 kilometres north of Chachapoyas.
We'll approach the viewpoint of the Sonche Canyon, from where we'll have a bird's eye view of the rugged geography of the Amazon Andes. We'll be seduced by the silence of the area as we gaze into the kilometre-deep abyss of the geological canyon formed by the Sonche River pass.
Once in the town of Huancas, we'll discover the thousand-year-old techniques of its famous female potters, whose work is considered a cultural heritage of Peru. You'll learn about the process of making ceramics as well as the secrets of the pottery tradition inherited from the Huanca, Chachapoya, Inca and Hispanic cultures.
On the way back to Chachapoyas, we'll stop at the Luya Urco viewpoint, where you'll be sure to snap a few pictures! Then, after this panoramic view, we'll go to the Santa Ana Ethno-Historical-Religious Museum, a place that will teach you all about the architecture of the area during the 16th century.
Finally, we'll visit the Santa Isabel orchid nursery, in the southern part of the city. After about 3 hours and 30 minutes, we'll take you back to the hotels in Chachapoyas.
