Tour Highlights
At the designated time, we'll meet at the train station in Cefalù, where we'll begin this tour of the main attractions in this Sicilian city.
Our tour will start from Porta Terra, a stage that will serve as an introduction to the origins of Cefalù, since from here, we'll be able to observe the walls of the 4th century BC that protected the citadel during the Greek period.
We'll continue into the historic center of Cefalù, walking along Corso Ruggero, the main avenue that runs through it. There, we'll see ancient craft stores, typical products, and noble residences such as the Osterio Magno.
Then, we'll stop to visit the medieval washing area from the Arab period, whose basins in which the clothes were once washed are still filled with water from the Cefalino River.
The free tour of Cefalù will take us to the Marina, passing through the Porta Pescara, which gives access to the port. We'll see the fishing district, a place that has been used to shoot famous movies such as Nuovo Cinema Paradiso and Indiana Jones.
Afterwards, we'll go to Piazza del Duomo and enter the Cathedral Basilica of Cefalù, declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco. Inside, we'll admire its majestic Byzantine mosaics, and then we'll go to the Norman quarter of Francavilla, where we'll conclude the tour after two hours.
