Guided Tour of Cebu and Mactan
After picking you up at your hotel in Cebu, we will begin our fantastic tour of the historic center of the city, which is believed to be the oldest in the Philippines. We start by visiting the Magellan's Cross, where you will learn all about the famous Portuguese explorer's connection to the city of Cebu.
We will then head to the Santo Niño Basilica (Basilica of the Holy Child) where we will find one of the most important relics of the Philippines, the Santo Niño de Cebú (Holy Child of Cebu). Once we have seen the church, we will travel to the Fort San Pedro, a military structure built by Spanish workers and native Cebuanos in 1738.
Our next stop is Yap-Sandiego Ancestral House, which has been preserved in its original style and architecture for more than 300 years. The relics here offer us a glimpse into the way of life for the merchants and families in Cebu in bygone times.
Before leaving the city, we will enter the city's Taoist Temple, this impressive hilltop shrine offers you unique views across the city and beyond to the neighboring Mandaue and Lapulapu regions.
We will enjoy a local meal in a traditional restaurant to regain our energy, before crossing over to the island of Mactan via the Marcelo Fernan bridge.
In Mactan, we will visit the Lapu-Lapu shrine, a huge bronze statue that pays homage to the indigenous ruler to whom it is named after. Finally, before returning to the hotels of Cebu, we will visit a traditional Philippine guitar factory where you will learn all about the process involved in making these instruments and the importance they hold in Philippine folklore.
