Rafting in Chapada dos Veadeiros National Park
Rafting in Chapada dos Veadeiros National Park
We'll meet up at 10 am at Rua Borba Gato in Cavalcante, where, after learning the safety rules, we'll strap on our helmets, vests, and other rafting equipment.
Then, we'll prepare the rafts and set off down the river in Chapada dos Veadeiros National Park. We'll float down several rivers and streams along the 14-kilometer (8.7-mile) route and overcome a total of five rapids. The Funil do Paranã rapid will really get your adrenaline pumping!
Halfway through the trip, we'll dock the rafts and stop to rest and take a refreshing dip in the river. After this, we'll hop back on the rafts and continue paddling, this time until we reach the native Kalunga community. We'll get to visit the house of one of the members of the community.
Here, they'll offer us a typical Kalunga lunch that includes a selection of local products such as rice, beans, pasta, farofa, salad, fried plantain, cassava, chicken, and free-range eggs. It'll be quite the feast!
After lunch, we'll visit the Tia Lió Kalunga Memorial and talk with the matriarch Laia Procópia, who was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for her defense of the Quilombo Kalunga territory.
Finally, we'll walk back to the meeting point in Cavalcante, where we'll arrive at 4 pm.
