Day Trip to Piazza Armerina & Caltagirone
Day Trip Details
At the designated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel and make our way to Piazza Armerina by minibus.
Our first stop will be the Villa Romana del Casale, a Roman villa declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here, we'll be amazed by its spectacular mosaics, considered the best preserved from Ancient Rome. This fascinating site will take us back to everyday life in ancient times, with scenes depicting mythology, hunts, and daily activities. We'll then stroll through the streets of Piazza Armerina.
After 2 hours of exploring this unique spot, we'll return to the minibus to make our way to the next destination: Caltagirone. In under 45 minutes, we'll reach this city famous for its ceramics, whose roots date back to the Arab Era.
In Caltagirone, we'll go on a guided tour to get to know its main landmarks, like the majestic Scalinata di Santa Maria del Monte, world-famous steps decorated with hand-painted tiles. We'll also venture down its narrow streets filled with artisanal workshops where you can admire and even purchase unique pieces of ceramic.
After this visit, you'll have free time to grab some lunch in one of the local restaurants to taste the delicious Sicilian cuisine.
Having re-energised, we'll begin our journey back to your hotel, where we'll say our goodbyes after a total of 8 hours.
