Tepuhueico Park Hike
Options
When making your booking, you'll be able to choose between the following options:
3-kilometre (1.8-mile) Hike: 1.5 - 2 hours
On this hike, we'll begin touring the outskirts of the Tepuhueico Lodge until we reach the lake of the same name and the source of the Bravo River.
As we make our way through the forest, we'll pass by a 10-metre (32-foot) high waterfall. From there, we'll be able to view the river, with its caramel-coloured waters that flow downwards towards the habitat of a small animal called the huillín, a Southern River Otter.
We'll arrive at the Waterfall viewpoint and visit the Mañíos Square, where trees date back more than 600 years. You'll surely be impressed by their massive trunks which stand 30 metres (98 feet) above the ground.
7-kilometre (4.3-mile) Hike: 4 - 5 hours
We'll begin our hiking route by visiting the Arrayanes Cathedral, where you'll find yourself stunned by the sheer density of the vegetation. Before us, a myrtle tree forest will open up whose different species of trees are in a constant search for light. Did you know that some of them can reach up to 25 metres (82 feet)?
We'll visit the banks of the Bravo River and traverse another forest full of mosses, lichens, shrubs and centuries-old trees. With this option, we'll also make a short stop at Mañíos Square, a space that'll really take your breath away.
We'll continue our journey towards the Waterfall viewpoint, the last of our stops. You'll love the sound of the flowing water at this idyllic spot within Tepuhueico Park.
Pickup
This tour includes pickup from hotels in Castro and Chonchi. If you're staying elsewhere, we recommend choosing the option without pickup and making your own way to the Tepuhueico Lodge.
