Hiking in Castro Laboreiro
We will be waiting for you at the time of your choosing at the campsite of Lamas de Mouro, on the outskirts of Castro Laboreiro. From this point, we will start our exciting hiking tour.
Due to its isolated location within the Pene-Gerês National Park, this place preserves millenary traditions such as transhumance -constant movement of livestock during winter and summer-. We will learn all about herds and grazing as we explore the slope connected to the plateau.
Along the way, we will be able to visit the remains of what was once a large megalithic complex, traverse black oak forests, cross bridges from different eras, and admire the mountains of the national park. If you look closely, there nestled between the rocks lies the Castle of Castro Laboreiro. This castle founded in the 10th century served as a defense against Galician troops.
After a two-hour hike, we will head back to the starting point, ending the experience.
