Grau de Castelló Guided Tour
Grau de Castelló Guided Tour
We'll meet at 11:30 am at 28 Paseo de Buenavista. From this central point in Grau de Castelló, the tour will begin by admiring the modernist houses that were built in the area during the first decades of the 20th century.
After learning about the history of these houses, the tour will continue to La Panderola Park. Here we'll see an old locomotive from the railway line that connected El Grau with the city of Castellón. Then we'll head to the Museum of the Sea to learn about the deep-rooted seafaring tradition of the area.
Our next stop will be the historic centre, to see the San Pedro Church and the fish market. Just a few metres away we'll also see the Sailing Club, located next to the loading and unloading docks.
The route will continue along Plaza del Mar and the Puerto Azahar esplanada. This is the liveliest part of El Grau, with a wide range of leisure and restaurant establishments. Next to its docks, we can also watch the boats setting sail for the Columbretes Islands, located 50 kilometres off the coast of Castellón.
The tour will end at 1 pm next to the Puerto Azahar lighthouse. This symbol of Grau de Castelló dates back to the 19th century, and was moved stone by stone to its current location.
