Combine breathtaking nature and sport in one morning on our Calanques National Park Hike. We'll see spectacular coves and discover how this place on the Côte d'Azur was formed.
Calanques National Park Hike
At the scheduled time, we'll see you on Avenue des Calanques, in Cassis. From here, we'll start a nature walk through the eastern part of the Calanques National Park.
You'll love its paradisiacal coves and limestone mountains, which have been gradually shaped over 120 million years.
A calanque is an old valley excavated by a river, which was later flooded by the sea when the water level rose 12,000 years ago. It's a paradisiacal spot surrounded by rocky peaks that fascinates all its visitors.
During the tour, we'll walk along the coastline of Cassis to visit the calanques, the first of which is Port-Miou. Just like a fjord, this mile-long (1.5 kilometre) calanque reaches towards the mainland. We'll visit the marina, talk about an old quarry and discuss the underground river that runs through this area.
As we follow the coastline, we'll reach Port-Pin before making the ascent to the Calanque d'En-Vau viewpoint. From this viewpoint, which stands at almost 400 feet (120 metres) high, you'll look out at incredible views of the Calanques National Park.
After the tour, during which we'll make several stops and take a break for a swim, we'll conclude the hiking route back at the starting point.
