Tour Details
We'll pick you up at the indicated time at your hotel to start our journey through the history, culture and architectural beauty of the Portuguese capital. Let's visit Lisbon!
Once we arrive, we'll discover Belém, one of the most historic neighbourhoods of the city, and learn about the important role it played in the Age of Discovery. We'll pass the Jerónimos Monastery, declared a World Heritage Site in 1983. We'll also discover the tradition of the famous Pastéis de nata, traditional custard pastries that originated in Belém.
We'll also visit the Belém Tower, one of the best examples of Manueline architecture, which was built to control the entrance to Lisbon from the Tagus River. Of course, we'll pay special attention to the Monument of the Discoveries, erected to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the death of Henry the Navigator.
A few metres away is the Palace of Ajuda, which was the residence of the Portuguese royal family until the 19th century and now houses one of Portugal's finest collections of decorative art. As we enter the palace, we'll walk through the music room, the ballroom, the throne room and each of the rooms that reflect how royalty lived.
Finally, we'll walk through the narrow streets and corners of the oldest part of Lisbon, the Alfama district, where Fado first began to be sung—you'll be enchanted by its traditional atmosphere! This neighbourhood is famous for its restaurants and fado houses.
After a total of 4 hours of sightseeing, we'll end our tour by returning to the starting point.
