Enjoy fabulous views of Cartagena and its port by going up to the Castillo de la Concepción in its panoramic lift. What's more, with this ticket, you can visit the fortress!
Description
Since the 13th century, the Castillo de la Concepción has witnessed the splendour of this Mediterranean city. A medieval fortress that defended the city during the reign of Alfonso X the Wise and a symbol of the Cartagena of the 18th century, this castle has been a fundamental bastion of Cartagena's history ever since it was built.
As you go up in the panoramic lift which is 45 meters high you'll have a privileged view of the city of Cartagena and the port, of great strategic importance for the Spanish Navy. Without a doubt, this is an unbeatable view from the top of the Concepción peak, where during Roman times a temple dedicated to the god Aesculapius was erected. From the glass cabin, you can admire the main buildings of Cartagena, such as the Roman amphitheatre, the bullring or the Hospital de Marina.
Once you're at the top, you head inside the fortress, where you'll find the Interpretation Centre. There you'll learn about the historical heritage of the Castillo de la Concepción, as well as being able to see old cisterns, capitals and other architectural elements that have been preserved.
Panoramic lift ticket
If you don't wish to visit the interior of the castle and the Interpretation Centre, you can just book a ticket for the panoramic lift to go up to the viewpoint and admire the fabulous view of Cartagena, the port and the main monuments of the city. The lift is accessed from Gisbert Street.
