Having picked you up from Pegasus Pier at 8:30 am, we'll set off northbound toward the Totumo Volcano - a 50-foot (15-metre) high crater with a medicinal mud pool at the top.
The volcano and its simple infrastructure are maintained by locals who'll accompany us as we climb up the stairs to the top. When we reach the summit, we'll admire incredible views of a beautiful landscape dominated by the Totumo Swamp. We'll then enter the volcano's mud crater and see its seemingly bottomless natural pool.
Legend has it that El Totumo was an igneous volcano until a priest poured holy water into it, convinced that the crater was the work of the Devil. When we head into the volcano, we'll see for ourselves that there's no lava, but mud. You'll be able to smear the mineral-laden mud all over your skin for its medicinal properties.
After relaxing in the warm mud bath, we'll head down to the Totumo Swamp to clean ourselves. The locals will help us to remove the dried mud with pressurised water and basins in exchange for a tip.
Rested and with rejuvenated skin, we'll leave the Totumo Volcano behind and head to the village of Manzanillo. When we arrive, you'll be served a delicious traditional snack.
Once we've finished our lunch, we'll start our return journey to Cartagena. After a day spent immersing ourselves in the geological wonders of Colombia, we'll say our goodbyes between 3:30 pm and 4 pm.
