Tour Details
We'll pick you up at your hotel in Cartagena de Indias at the appointed time and board a minibus to Santa Marta, a historic town in the department of Magdalena - one of the oldest in the Americas!
En route to our destination, we'll make a quick stop for breakfast in Cienaga for an egg arepa accompanied by a glass of orange juice or a coffee. Once we've refueled, we'll continue our trip toward Santa Marta.
After a 4 hour and 30-minute drive, we'll arrive at our destination known as the 'Pearl of America'. The first stop of the tour will be the Quinta San Pedro Alejandrino hacienda, which is where military and political leader Simon Bolivar died. We'll explore this area before continuing to the statue of Pibe Valderrama where we'll learn about the life of the Colombian soccer player.
We'll tour the Pescaito neighborhood before heading to the bay of Santa Marta, where we'll see Parque de los Novios Park - an excellent place to retrace the life of Bolivar and his relationship with this historic city. A visit to Santa Marta is not complete without a visit to the cathedral, the oldest in South America. Afterwards, we'll visit Plaza Bolivar Square and walk through the colonial streets of the Colombian town.
Our next stop is the Gold Museum in Casa de la Aduana, which once functioned as the Customs House for the port of Santa Marta during the colonial era. Here, you'll discover the impressive cultural heritage of Santa Marta and Cartagena! We'll then head to the area of Rodadero, where we'll board a boat to travel to Playa Blanca and enjoy a wholesome traditional meal of fish, patacones, coconut rice, and salads.
Finally, we'll leave Santa Marta behind and make our way toward Cartagena de Indias. En route, we'll make a stop in Barranquilla to see the Caiman del Rio and the Window to the World - the perfect way to wrap up our tour. We'll conclude our tour at your hotel after 13 hours of sightseeing.
