At 6 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Cartagena de Indias to set off on the 1 hour and 40-minute journey to the town of San Jacinto Bolivar.
The town of San Jacinto Bolivar, located in the heart of the Montes de María, is famous for its handicrafts, including hammocks and musical instruments such as drums, maracas and gaitas. During our tour, we'll get to see the typical objects up close and learn all about their importance in the region.
We'll also discover the darker side of the town's history and hear how it was rebuilt after the armed conflict. We'll visit the Community Museum of San Jacinto Bolivar, which brings together the cultural traditions of the 15 towns that make up the Montes de Maria region.
We'll continue the tour visiting a workshop where they make bagpipes and drums, and another dedicated to weaving, where we'll be able to see how the local artisans make beautiful creations with multicoloured fabrics.
After discovering the typical handicrafts of San Jacinto Bolivar and learning about its history, we'll enjoy a typical Caribbean lunch consisting of meat, chicken or fish, rice, patacones, and salad. If you prefer, there is also a vegetarian option. To round off this culinary experience, we'll sample some traditional Montes de María coffee- delicious!
At 5 pm we'll finish the excursion and drop you back at your hotel in Cartagena de Indias.
