Cartagena de Indias Paila Ice Cream Workshop
Cartagena de Indias Paila Ice Cream Workshop
We'll meet at a time of your choice in the Plaza de la Trinidad, and from this central point in Cartagena de Indias we'll take a walk to a popular local shop in the city where we'll learn how to make delicious paila ice cream.
Once we arrive at the ice cream parlour, which is run only by women and uses only ecological materials, we'll begin to prepare the ice creams. We'll use the traditional paila, a special metal pan that is specifically used for its large diameter and shallow depth.
As we prepare all the ingredients, we'll learn about the history of paila ice creams. Although they originate from Ecuador, they are also a very typical dessert in Pasto, the capital of the Colombian department of Nariño.
We'll make the ice creams in an artisan way from fruit or milk, only using natural and organic ingredients. At the end of the process, you'll taste three paila ice creams, which we're sure you'll love!
The workshop will last between one and a half and two hours, and at the end of the experience we can accompany you to the meeting point. If you prefer, you can also stay longer on the premises to try other ice creams on your own.
