The activity was great. The botanical garden was very informative and beautiful. The museum was very interesting to learn about the origins of the area we visited and learn about the local culture. The guide John Torres was very pleasant and professional.

From Cartagena, take an excursion to Turbaco, where Caribbean wildlife and historical heritage mix. Delve into the origins of this 16th-century town and explore its botanical garden.

Description

Our adventure begins at the Marina Park in Cartagena de Indias, where we'll gather at the appointed time. A minibus will be our chariot for the day, transporting us on a 1 hour-long journey to the charming town of Turbaco.

Our first destination is the Guillermo Piñeres Botanical Garden, located on the outskirts of Turbaco. We'll meander through this lush natural reserve and get to know the diverse plant life native to the Colombian Caribbean, home to over 300 species of plants.

At the botanical garden, we'll spend approximately 1 hour immersed in the serene natural surroundings, where we may encounter a variety of wildlife, from birds and squirrels to iguanas and colorful monkeys.

After our nature walk, we'll head back to the vehicle and continue to explore the heart of Turbaco. Here, we'll enjoy a 2-hour guided tour that includes a look at the town's church, a leisurely stroll through the main streets, and an enlightening visit to the Yurbaco Museum. This museum offers insights into the indigenous roots of this 16th-century settlement.

The last stop of the day will be at a local restaurant. Here, we'll enjoy a delicious typical lunch with a drink, the perfect finishing touch!

After an 8-hour tour, we'll return to the starting point in Cartagena de Indias.

Itinerary Changes

Please note that the Botanical Garden is closed on Mondays, except for holidays that fall on a Monday. If a holiday falls on a Monday, the Botanical Gardens will be open that Monday, and close the following day, i.e. Tuesday. If either of these cases occurs, the itinerary will be slightly modified, and we'll visit the Turbaco Lakes instead.
