Carcassonne Castle and Ramparts Ticket

Correct and interesting visit. At the time of booking I was not aware that it was without a guide, since Civitatis always conceives it with a guide!!!! Looking later, I saw the guided option at a fairly high price, considering that we are a family of 4 members!!!!

Description

The legendary, impenetrable fortress of Carcassonne was the scene of fierce confrontations between the French and Aragonese in their struggle to control this strategic area during the middles ages.

Your fast-track ticket to this historic fortress allows you to visit the romanesque Chapel of the Bastion, the Machicolations (galleries from which projectiles and other weapons were dropped on enemies), and the barbican, a defensive gateway above the moat.

The entrance also includes fast-track access to the citadel's ramparts. You can take a stroll, at your own pace, around the walled perimeter of the medieval city, exploring the different towers and battlements of the enclosure. From the top, you'll also enjoy extraordinary views of the Aude river valley.

If you gaze down from the ramparts, you'll see the beautiful historical city centre of Carcassonne, featuring the elegant Saint-Nazaire basilica and the majestic Narbonne Gate.
