Mustafapaşa, Sobessos + Soğanli Valley Tour
Between 9 am and 9:30 am we'll pick you up from your hotel in Cappadocia and start a tour to discover one of the lesser-known areas of the region.
First, we'll head to Mustafapaşa, an ancient Greek city. Also known as Sinasos, this ancient settlement is closely linked to Orthodox history. We'll also tell you about the role Mustafapaşa played in the Turkish War of Independence.
The next stop on the tour is Sobessos, just outside Sahinefendi. Discovered by treasure hunters in 2002, this Roman settlement is home to the remains of city spaces such as the baths, the agora, the basilica and the bouleuterion.
We'll leave the archaeological site of Sobessos behind and take you to a restaurant where you'll have an hour of free time for lunch. With your batteries recharged, we'll travel to the Soğanli valley, full of rock-hewn churches of different architectural styles. To discover this incredible area the best way possible, we'll take a short hike in the surrounding area, exploring the interior of the temples and their frescoes - a real treasure!
Another place we'll visit is the Keslik Monastery, with frescoes that are only visible by torchlight. Finally, we'll head to Avanos, famous for its handicrafts, where you can try tour hand at pottery in a workshop.
We'll end the tour by taking you back to your hotel in Cappadocia between 4 pm and 4:30 pm.
