Join us on this excursion to Etna and Taormina from Capo d'Orlando. You'll come to know two treasures of eastern Sicily in one day!
Etna & Taormina Day Trip
After meeting at 7 am at piazza Matteotti in Capo d'Orlando, we'll hop on a comfortable bus and hit the road to Mount Etna. After a journey of two and a half to three hours, we'll have arrived at the tallest active volcano in Europe!
From the Sapienza Refuge, located at an altitude of about 2,000 meters above sea level, we'll begin a trek along Etna's Silvestri Craters. Formed after the eruption of 1892, the almost lunar appearance of this landscape and the priceless views of the Gulf of Catania they offer will leave you speechless!
Afterward, you'll have some free time to grab a bite to eat at your leisure. If you want, you can even climb up to the summit of the volcano, perched at a towering altitude of 3,000 meters, to admire the breathtaking view of the valley below.
Then, it'll be time to get back on the bus and move to our next destination: Taormina. During this second leg of the excursion, you'll have free time to discover the rich heritage of the city on your own. You can check out its 13th-century cathedral, stroll through the beautiful gardens of the Villa Comunale, explore the ancient theater of Taormina...the choice is yours!
If you love shopping, don't miss the typical shops and stores of Corso Umberto, the city's bustling main thoroughfare where you're sure to find the perfect souvenir to take home. At the end of the excursion, we'll regroup to return to Capo d'Orlando, where the arrival is expected around 7 pm.
