On this excursion to Tulum from Cancun we'll visit one of the great pre-Columbian areas of the Mexican Caribbean. We'll also visit a Mayan village, where you can swim in a sacred cenote, an unforgettable experience!
Description
From your hotel in Cancun, where we'll pick you up at the designated time, we'll drive south to Tulum. This pre-Columbian site on the shores of the Caribbean is considered one of the most important Maya sites on the Yucatan coast.
We'll start our guided tour of Tulum by visiting the main sacred monuments of the complex. Among them is the Temple of the Frescoes, decorated with beautiful stuccoes on its walls. We'll also enter the Temple of the Descending God to learn about the history of this revered Maya deity.
The tour of the Tulum site will continue onto another great monument of the archaeological site. This is El Castillo, an impressive construction from which there are beautiful views of the Caribbean Sea.
After enjoying the panoramic views, we'll leave Tulum behind and continue the excursion to a Mayan village. We'll be welcomed by the inhabitants, who will explain their customs and traditions. We'll also enjoy a handmade tortilla workshop led by the locals as they tell us about their ancestral foods.
After the workshop, you'll have an hour free to take a refreshing swim in the village's cenote, its turquoise waters will leave you speechless.
Once you've dried off from your resting dip we'll make our way back to Cancun– arrival is scheduled 5.5 to 7 hours after departure.
