Description
At the time indicated, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Cambará do Sul and travel in a 4x4 vehicle to São José dos Ausentes. Do you know where the name of this small town in central Rio Grande do Sul came from?
During the journey, we'll tell you about the fascinating history of the town. At first, São José dos Ausentes was the largest ranch in the region, at over 1000 kilometres squared (386 square miles). However, it was abandoned by its owners, and it was left empty.
Upon arrival in São José dos Ausentes, we'll head to Pico do Monte Negro, where we'll start a short 4-kilometres (2.5 miles) hiking route that will take us to the highest point in the state.
From 1043 metres (3421 feet) above sea level, we'll have fascinating views of the Monte Negro Canyon. Additionally, if it's a clear day, we'll be able to see the Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina coast.
Later, we'll return by 4x4 and head to the farm where we'll enjoy a buffet-style lunch. Once full, we'll go to the Rodriges waterfall, where we'll explore the area to visit the Cerro Maracujá and the fields of Cima da Serra.
Finally, we'll head back to Cambará do Sul and end this day trip to São José dos Ausentes at your hotel after 10 hours of activity.
