The Basilica of the Lord of Miracles is one of the most venerated temples in the Colombian valley of the Cauca. Visit the interior of this church with this fantastic trip to Buga from Cali.
Trip to Buga
At 8:30 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Cali. Just one hour later we'll arrive in the picturesque Colombian city of Buga in the Valle del Cauca.
We'll begin our tour of Buga by visiting its main attraction: the Minor Basilica of the Lord of Miracles. There, we'll talk about why this city is one of the main pilgrimage centres in Colombia. Every year, thousands of the faithful flock to Buga to pray and ask for protection for their loved ones.
During the tour inside the church, we'll admire the works of sacred art that this temple, inaugurated on 2 August 1907, houses. We'll come across the carved wooden image of the Señor de los Milagros de Buga, which is 4.37 feet (1.33 metres) high. We'll discuss the history behind this carved image, which also has a replica in Bogotá.
Afterwards, we'll walk around the basilica and learn some key facts about the city and its religious temple, whose title of 'Minor Basilica' was granted by Pope Pius XI in 1937. At the end of the guided tour, we'll have a drink.
It'll then be time to return to our starting point in Cali, where we'll arrive at 1:30 pm.
