Join us on this day trip to Su Nuraxi di Barumini, a journey back to the Bronze Age, to discover one of the most important archaeological sites in Sardinia!

What is Su Nuraxi of Barumini?

Su Nuraxi of Barumini, one of the most significant archaeological sites in Sardinia, is the best-preserved and most impressive example of a nuraghe, a type of megalithic tower found on the island.

Dating back to the Bronze Age, between the 16th and 13th centuries BC, the site features a central structure with a main tower surrounded by four smaller towers, all connected by a bastion. Over time, a village developed around the complex, complete with dwellings and facilities for daily life.

Discovered in the 1950s by archaeologist Giovanni Lilliu, Su Nuraxi was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997 due to its immense historical and cultural significance.

A Journey into Sardinia's History

We'll meet at the indicated time at Largo Carlo Felice in Cagliari and begin our 50-minute journey to Barumini to visit Su Nuraxi.

Along the way, we'll stop for 20 minutes in Villamar, a charming village known for its colorful murals. Here, you can take some photos and enjoy a coffee if you wish.

Upon arrival in Barumini, we'll visit the Su Nuraxi archaeological site, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A guided tour of the complex will last between 1 and 1.5 hours, where we'll delve into one of the most fascinating remnants of the Nuragic civilization.

After the tour, we'll head back to Cagliari, passing by the olive trees that dot the Sardinian countryside. The tour will conclude at the starting point after a total of 4 hours.
