Free Walking Tour of Cadiz
Beginning at the central Plaza de San Juan de Dios, we'll dive into the long history of Cadiz, touring the main places of interest in the Andalucian city, one of the oldest in the world.
In the square, you'll find the Town Hall, which was first built by the Phoenicians, who founded the city itself around 1104 BC. Here your guide will teach you some unusual facts about the origins of the city, and then we'll continue our free walking tour around the Pópulo neighbourhood - the oldest part of the city. This neighbourhood is home to some of the most important monuments in Cadiz, such as the Roman Theatre, the Santa Cruz Cathedral, and the Plaza de las Flores - monuments filled with history, and sure to take your breath away.
And our free tour would never be complete without getting to know the city's local culture. We'll visit the Mercado Central de Abastos, (Central Market) - where you can find the famous bay tuna - a delicious local speciality.
We will continue exploring the traditions of Cádiz, touring the Viña neighbourhood. Here is the famous Falla theatre, one of the most important buildings during Carnival in the city of Cadiz. Cameras at the ready!
We will continue the guided tour, heading to the La Caleta beach - a natural port where the Phoenicians, Romans and Carthaginians long ago arrived with their boats. We will enjoy the view of this charming bay framed by the castles of San Sebastián and Santa Catalina.
Following two hours of free tour around Cádiz, we put an end to the tour in La Caleta.
