Cabo de Palos Lighthouse Guided Tour
Description
At the time indicated, we'll meet at the entrance to the Cabo de Palos Lighthouse. Are you ready to climb to the highest point and observe the Murcian coast from the top?
Built in the middle of the 19th century, the Cabo de Palos Lighthouse replaced the old watch tower for the Murcian city. Since then, it has lit up the Costa Calida every day to guide boats safely around the rocks.
Did you know that it's one of the tallest lighthouses in Spain? We'll learn about its history and find out about all the projects that sponsored its construction. Additionally, we'll also talk about the importance of the Cabo de Palos Marine Reserve.
After a historical introduction about the lighthouse esplanade, it'll be time to climb to the top. We'll climb more than 300 stairs and arrive at its balcony approximately 80 metres (260 feet) above sea level. We'll be able to see the Mediterranean, Cabo de Palo and La Manga del Mar Menor all at once. Photo time!
We'll also learn how the lighthouse works and some other fun facts about it. Moreover, we'll talk about the boats that have sunk nearby.
After 45 minutes, we'll end our guided tour around the Cabo de Palos Lighthouse at the initial meeting point.
