In this activity we'll gaze at the night sky in the Vetón forest of Cabezabellosa. We'll learn to how to interpret the constellations from both a mythological and scientific perspective.
Cabezabellosa Astronomy Tour
Shortly after sunset we'll meet at the indicated point, located a few metres from the natural observatory of the Vetón forest of Cabezabellosa.
Next to this oak grove, where the Vetons settled in pre-Roman times, there is a place located at an altitude of 900 metres (2952 feet) where the night sky will light up with stars. Thanks to the clarity provided by the mountain and there being no light pollution, we'll have amazing views of the night sky. We'll look up and point out the most important stars as well as learn the names and meanings of the constellations. You'll discover new celestial bodies as we listen to some ancient myths related to cosmology - a magical experience!
We'll also observe the stars from a scientific perspective, learning about the physical processes and how stars and other objects in space are formed over millions of years.
After two hours of stargazing, we'll conclude the activity by returning to the starting point.
