Buenos Aires, Iguazu Falls & Salta: 8 Day Tour
Buenos Aires, Iguazu Falls & Salta: 8 Day Tour
Day 1: Buenos Aires
Welcome to the capital of Argentina! After picking you up from the airport or bus station in Buenos Aires, we'll take you to your hotel where you can rest after your travels. You'll then have the rest of the day free to explore the streets of Buenos Aires at your own pace.
Day 2: Buenos Aires
We'll dedicate the second day of the tour to seeing the most important places of interest in Buenos Aires on a guided tour of the city. You'll be able to choose to do the tour at 9:15 am or 2:15 pm. After being picked up from in front of the Hotel Panamericano, we'll embark on a route along the 9 de Julio Avenue, passing by the famous Obelisk of Buenos Aires and the Teatro Colón theatre.
Our tour will continue past the Metropolitan Cathedral and the Casa Rosada, or Pink House, located in the Plaza de Mayo, before we delve deep into Buenos Aires' liveliest neighbourhoods. We'll explore San Telmo, Boca and Caminito, as well as seeing the Puerto Madero district, and we'll get a feel for the true spirit of the Argentine capital in the Palermo area.
From Monday to Saturday the guided tour will come to an end in La Recoleta. On Sundays it will end in San Telmo so that you can visit its antiques fair.
Day 3: Buenos Aires – Puerto Iguazu
After breakfast at the hotel in Buenos Aires, you'll have free time until we pick you up for your transfer to the airport or bus station, depending what transport you've booked. Keep in mind that the flight or bus trip to Puerto Iguazu will be at your own expense.
Once you arrive in Puerto Iguazu, you'll be picked up and taken to your accommodation in the city. You'll then have the rest of the day free to familiarise yourself with this northern Argentinian city, located very close to the border with Paraguay and Brazil.
Day 4: Iguazu Falls (Argentinian side)
Full of energy after a hearty breakfast at your hotel in Puerto Iguazu, we'll head to one of the most stunning natural sights in this area of the world: the Devil's Throat. This cliff forms part of the Iguazu Falls, a group of waterfalls measuring up to 269 feet (82 metres) in height, making them one of the largest waterfalls in the world.
You'll be captivated by the sight of Iguazu Falls from the Argentinian side! Once you've taken photos of the incredible natural cascades, we'll head back to hotels in Puerto Iguazu for around 4:30 pm to 5 pm.
Day 5: Iguazu Falls (Brazilian side)
The Iguazu Falls are so spectacular, you have to see them twice! After you've had breakfast at your hotel in Puerto Iguazu, we'll pick you up and set off across the border for a day on the Brazilian side of Iguazu Falls, or the Foz do Iguaçu, as they're called in Brazil. Having spent the day admiring yet more breathtakingly beautiful views of the impressive waterfalls from the national park located here, we'll head back to Puerto Iguazu to drop you off at your hotel.
Day 6: Puerto Iguazu - Salta
Having enjoyed a relaxed breakfast at your hotel, we'll pick you up for the transfer to the airport or bus station in Puerto Iguazu, ready to leave this city behind for the journey to Salta (transport to Salta at your own expense). Arriving in the northern Argentinian city, you'll have the rest of the day free to explore the historic city at your own pace.
Day 7: Salta
Fuelled up after a delicious breakfast at your hotel, it'll be time to discover Salta! We'll meet in the 9 de Julio Plaza, where our three-hour guided tour of Salta will begin. Admire the colonial architecture of the Cabildo de Salta, these days a history museum, and the elegant façade of the Cathedral, whose beauty rivals only the San Francisco Church.
Continuing onwards, we'll visit the Cerro de San Bernardo, a hill from which we'll enjoy panoramic views over the city, before passing by the Catholic University campus on our way to the nearby picturesque town of San Lorenzo. Before returning to the hotel you'll have the opportunity to visit a local handicrafts market - ready to fill your suitcases with souvenirs?
Day 8: Salta
After breakfast at your hotel, you'll have free time to do any last bits of sightseeing and shopping before we pick you up to take you to the bus station or Salta airport, where your unforgettable eight-day tour of northern Argentina will come to an end.
