Set off on a full-day trip from Budapest to one of Hungary’s most popular tourist destinations: Lake Balaton, Central Europe's largest freshwater lake, as well as its surrounding cities.

Lake Balaton Full-Day Trip

Having been picked up at 9 am, we'll board a comfortable minibus and embark on the two-hour drive to Tihany, located on the Tihany Peninsula. This picturesque village offers the best views of the stunning Balaton Lake, a favourite tourist destination among Hungarians.

In Tihany, follow your knowledgeable guide on a tour of the Benedictine Abbey. The monastery was founded in 1055 by King Andrew I of Hungary and he is buried in its crypt. The Abbey was reconstructed in 1754 in a Baroque style.

We'll also go on an hour-long boat ride to take in the beauty of Lake Balaton from the water - you won't be able to stop taking pictures!

Leaving Tihany behind, we'll make our way to Balatonfüred, Hungary's oldest spa town. We'll stroll along scenic promenades and enjoy the fresh air in Balatonfüred before starting on our return journey to Budapest.

After a total of 10 hours, we'll arrive back in Budapest.

La guida Vera è stata eccezionale, molto preparata, coinvolgente e molto simpatica. Abbiamo apprezzato il suo essere multilingue e sempre disponibile. I posti visitati sono bellissimi anche se forse avremmo voluto vedere qualche cosa in più di Balatofureg, ma è solo un suggerimento la gita ci è piaciuta molto. Translate this opinion into English.

The guide Vera was exceptional, very knowledgeable, engaging and very friendly. We appreciated her being multilingual and always available. The places visited are beautiful even if perhaps we would have liked to see something more of Balatofureg, but it is only a suggestion we enjoyed the trip a lot. Opinion translated. Show original.

La excursión en general está bien. No recomendable para visitas cortas por Budapest ya que, la ida se hace un poco pesada (2,5h en bus). Sin embargo, para largas estancias sí, pasas un día agradable aunque yo, suprimiría el museo de porcelana, como opinión personal. Guía muy amena y agradable, una más entre nosotros.

La excursión estuvo a la altura de lo que esperábamos. El guía húngaro , Peter, majísimo, muy atento, amable y simpático. Si hay algo que mejorar sería que publicitaran la posibilidad de bañarse en el lago. Nosotros lo dedujimos por los comentarios en el blog, pero hubo gente que no llevó bañador.

Hicimos la excursión con Pedro/ Peter viaje muuuuy ameno y muy divertido. Lo cierto es que gracias a una de las integrantes del grupo perdimos mucho tiempo y no pudimos disfrutar de tiempo libre en Tihany por lo que perdimos la oportunidad de visitar la ciudad. A valorar la actitud de nuestro guia por soportarnos durante toda la jornada y unirse a nosotros siendo simplemente uno mas del grupo.

El lago es precioso y el pueblito de Tihany también. El helado de lavanda delicioso. balatonfüred solo merece la pena si decides bañarte en el lago. Nosotras fuimos a Herend y nos pareció prescindible. Dos personas decidieron quedarse y bañarse en lugar de ir a la fábrica de porcelana y hubiera sido mejor. La porcelana es divina pero carísima.
