Dracula's Castle & Peles Castle Day Trip from Bucharest
Day Trip Details
After being picked up from your hotel in Bucharest or chosen meeting point in Bucharest, we'll head north through the mythical forests of Transylvania.
Our first stop takes place in Sinaia, a mountainous region of Wallachia, where we'll visit the imposing Peles castle. Its palatial halls were used by the Romanian royal family as their summer residence, and we'll tour the wide halls, beautifully decorated according to taste at the end of the 19th century, when King Carol I began its construction.
We'll then head to the historic city of Brașov, where we'll take a walking tour around its picturesque old quarter. After our guided tour, you'll have 1 hour of free time to have lunch in this beautiful city.
Once you've had lunch, we'll head over to Bran's Castle. Once we arrive, we'll tell you its history and let you explore the castle at your own pace. Inside, you'll learn about one of Romania's most famous characters, Vlad "The Impaler", a sinister character from the 15th century. This figure inspired the famous Bram Stoker novel, "Dracula". As you explore the corridors, you'll gain a deeper understanding of how the myth developed, as well as how this character became an icon of popular culture and a symbol of Transylvania.
After exploring Bran's Castle, we'll meet back up before starting our return journey back to Bucharest and admire the delightful scenic views from the vehicle.
Pickup Time & Schedule
The tour includes pickup from the main hotels and hostels in Bucharest at the indicated time, which may vary depending on several reasons. If your hotel is not in the pickup area, select the closest available location, and we'll provide you with a meeting point to pick you up from.
Itinerary Changes
Please keep in mind that Peles Castle is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays year-round. If you do your tour on a Monday or Tuesday, instead of visiting the inside, we'll see Peles Castle from the outside and, as an added plus, we'll visit an exhibition on medieval torture instruments in Bran.
The itinerary is subject to change depending on traffic and seasonal events like holidays. If visiting during peak season, expect long lines and wait times.
