Tour Options

Upon booking, you have the choice between two itineraries, both beginning at the Bucay Adventures offices, with transportation via minibus and led by an English-speaking guide. Each option offers a unique experience:

Visit to the Shuar Indigenous Community (2.5 hours)

Embarking on our journey at the designated time, we'll bid farewell to Bucay and venture off to explore the Shuar indigenous community, a native village nestled in the Ecuadorian Amazon near Guayaquil.

Upon our arrival, a warm welcome awaits as the inhabitants perform a traditional dance. Then we'll take a tour of the community, delving into their rich traditions. This includes insights into their agricultural practices, the use of typical daily-life products, and the crafting of handmade items.

Our visit will also show you the ancestral rituals still practiced by the Shuar community. To enhance the experience, we'll indulge in typical drinks and partake in face painting, immersing ourselves as authentic members of the tribe.

After an enriching two and a half hours in the Shuar indigenous community, we'll head back to Bucay, concluding the activity.

  • Schedule: This tour begins at 3 pm.

Visit to the Bucay Waterfalls + Shuar Indigenous Community (7 hours)

For those seeking a more complete experience, this option is ideal. Prior to exploring the Shuar indigenous community, we'll venture into La Esperanza Protected Forest, a little corner of paradise filled with waterfalls.

Our journey begins with a stop at a sugar cane mill, offering insights into the age-old process of making sugar cane juice. Following this, we embark on a forest hike in pursuit of its waterfalls. La Chorrera del Amor, standing at 30 meters (100 feet), and Isabela, Bucay's largest waterfall, await our discovery.

Take advantage of free time at both waterfalls to relax, soak in the scenic surroundings, and indulge in a refreshing swim. To recharge after our hike, a delightful picnic lunch is provided amidst the enchanting backdrop of the Bucay waterfalls.

In the afternoon, we transition to the Shuar indigenous community, engaging in the same activities outlined in the previous option.

Concluding our excursion, we'll return to the starting point after a total of seven hours.

  • Schedule: This tour begins at 10 am
