Brussels Mysteries & Legends Free Tour
Discover a Different Side of Brussels
At the indicated time, join us in uncovering the secrets of the capital of Europe at the Grand Place, in front of the city hall. From there, we'll begin this exciting free tour of the mysteries and legends of Brussels. Are you ready to get off the beaten track and discover a different side of Brussels?
We'll kick off the tour by walking around the Grand Place, an ideal starting point for this tour, as the elegant buildings on the square hide many secrets. To unveil them, we'll look at the gold-coloured façades, where we'll find cryptic symbols. Legend has it that the Philosopher's Stone was invented here. Is it true?
Next, we'll continue our adventure by walking towards Place Saint-Jean, where we'll see the statue of Gabrielle Petit. Do you know about her work as a spy during World War 1? We'll then pass by Anneessens Tower, an impressive fortress that was part of the city's defensive First Wall in the 13th century. What mysteries will we uncover about its past?
Continuing our journey, we'll walk along the charming Rue de Rollebeek until we arrive at the Church of Our Lady of Victories at the Sablon. As we admire the impressive façade of this church, which was completed in the 15th century, we'll unveil interesting facts about its rich history. Nearby, we'll stroll through the charming Place du Petit Sablon, uncovering even more chilling tales of the history of the Belgian capital.
We'll also pass by the iconic Comic Book Wall, where we'll see an impressive collection of murals of cartoon characters such as the Smurfs and Tintin. Does a deeper meaning lie behind the bright colours?
Lastly, we'll visit the Palace of Justice, the city's most important court building. Here, we'll listen to stories from this building's long and interesting past—you'll be surprised!
Finally, after a total of 2.5 hours, we'll bring this free tour to an end at Rue de Rollebeek, next to Café Strof. Until next time!
