Flanders Fields Tour
Flanders Fields Tour
If you're in Brussels, passionate about history and want to visit one of the key sites from the First World War, this tour to Flanders Fields is perfect for you. At the time indicated, we'll meet on Boulevard de Berlaimont and start our tour.
Between 1914 and 1918, the Flanders Fields were an important scene on the Western Front during World War One. Firstly, we'll head to the German Military Cementery in Langemark, where more than 44,000 soldiers are buried. In addition, we'll see the Comrades Grave, one of the highlights of this cemetery.
We'll continue learning about this chapter in our history by travelling to Ypres, where we'll take a break to eat at a restaurant. Then, we'll head to the Flanders Fields Museum, a perfect place to see trenches and underground refuges, as well as learn about the conditions that soldiers lived in here.
Our next stop will be the Memorial Museum Passchendaele 1917 in Zonnebeke to discover all about the Third Battle of Ypres, also known as the Battle of Passchendaele.
Then, we'll explore the Tyne Cot Memorial, which pays tribute to the soldiers who died in the conflict. Did you know that it's the largest cemetery in the Commonwealth of Nations?
To complete our tour of Flanders Fields, we'll stop at the Monument to the Disappeared at the Menin Gate, a memorial to the more than 54,000 soldiers without a known grave.
Finally, we'll head back to Brussels, where we'll say goodbye after a total of 13 hours.
