Bruges Fries Museum Ticket
Located in the heart of the historic centre of Bruges, the Frietmuseum is a unique museum dedicated to the history of French fries. Without a doubt one of the best known Belgian products!
With your ticket to the museum, which also includes an audio guide, you will learn how potatoes were first imported to Europe from America. With the discovery of the New World in the 15th century, little by little exciting new products began to reach the Old Continent.
However, it was not until the 18th century that the potato began to gain importance in Europe. That was when Antoine-Augustin Parmentier began to propose the potato as a food alternative.
But enough of that, it's in the museum where you'll learn all of the most important anecdotes and facts about this humble potato, and its role in revolutionising the diets of millions.
As you tour the Saaihalle, the 14th-century house where the Frietmuseum is located, you will also learn how the idea of frying potatoes came about. And you'll discover several recipes to prepare your potatoes with when you get back home!
What's the secret of good Belgian-style fries? You will find the answer to this question in the Frietmuseum. And of course, no trip to the Frietmuseum would be complete without a trip to the museum cafeteria to try a delicious cone of authentic Belgian fries!
