Bratislava Castle + Cathedral Free Tour
Tour Details
Lace up your walking shoes and let the adventure begin! Meet us at the vibrant Franciscan Square (Frantiskanske Namestie) to get going on our exciting and free walking tour of Bratislava. We'll be greeted by iconic street statues, a distinctive feature of the city. Throughout the tour, we'll wander through the charming old town as we reach our ultimate destination: the iconic Bratislava Castle.
We'll first head to the National Opera and the National Philharmonic Orchestra to appreciate the grandeur of these buildings. Then we'll walk to the awe-inspiring St. Martin's Cathedral. Located right below the Castle, this church is one of the oldest and largest in all of Slovakia. This significant monument, with its spire reaching a towering 85 meters (279 feet) into the air, dominates the skyline of the city.
As we move past the cathedral, the second part of the tour unfolds. We'll climb up the hill, showcasing the majestic Bratislava Castle. The crowning jewel of the city skyline, this rectangular building sits perched over the iconic Danube River. From this perfect vantage point, we'll be treated to sweeping views of Bratislava and Austria, and if the weather is on our side, perhaps catch a glimpse of Hungary!
Conveniently located next to the Bratislava Castle, we'll also find the Parliament building. As we descend from the Castle, we'll discuss its current role in the country's politics. As our last stop along the tour, we'll visit the iconic Michael’s Gate, the last standing city gate, dating back to around 1300.
After 2 hours of incredible sights and historical adventure, we'll bring our walking tour to a close.
