Traveling the Transfagarasan road is a must if you're in Romania. Enjoy this tour that'll also include a visit to the Sambata de Sus Monastery.
Transfagarasan + Sambata de Sus Monastery Tour
At 8.30 am, we'll meet outside the Modarom building in Brasov to begin a tour of one of the most spectacular places in Romania: the Transfagarasan road.
Driving across quaint villages, we'll discover the origin of this road, built in the '70s by the armed forces to allow easy access between the provinces of Transylvania and Wallachia. It'll be a journey through the history of the country!
Next, we'll go up the imposing Fagaras Mountains, part of the Carpathian Mountain Range, and we'll make several stops at some of the viewpoints in the area to enjoy this breathtaking natural scenery. What's more, we'll stop at the highest point of the road to admire Balea Lake.
Then, you'll have an hour of free time to explore the area and to buy something at the food stalls. After this break, we'll continue the tour towards the Sambata de Sus Monastery, a perfect example of the Romanian architecture of the 17th century.
Once we arrive there, we'll have a half-hour guided tour of the three churches housed in this religious complex and, lastly, we'll return to Brasov.
We'll arrive back at the starting point at 3 pm.
