Bear Watching in the Romanian Carpathians
Bear Watching in the Romanian Carpathians
At the agreed time, we'll pick you up at the George Barițiu Library and drive to the Transylvania region. Are you ready to enjoy this bear-watching activity in the Carpathian Mountains? Let's go!
During the trip, as we reach the lookout point, we'll tell you about the safety rules and about the animals we'll see during the tour. This area is world famous for being home to a large number of wild Carpathian brown bears – it's believed to be home to around 5,000 of them!
Once we reach the forested region of the Romanian Carpathians, we will visit a very special vantage point to observe bears in their natural habitat. Where do they hide? How much can they weigh? A forest ranger will answer all these questions while guiding us along a mountain path through the woods to an observatory. There, in complete silence, we will witness the nature of the Romanian Carpathians as you have never imagined.
There is approximately a 70% chance of spotting wildlife such as wild boars, roe deer, game birds, red deer, wolves, and even brown bears. You may see large males hidden among the trees or females playing freely with their cubs. It is the perfect photo opportunity!
About 4 hours later, we'll finish the activity and drop you back off at the meeting point in Brasov.
Departure Time
Although a start time is shown during the booking process, it may vary slightly. We'll get in touch with you to confirm the exact time you should be at the meeting point, which will generally be between 4 pm and 6 pm. This variation depends on weather conditions and the seasonal cycles and habits of the animals.
Please Note
We cannot guarantee 100% that you'll be able to see any of the wild animals listed in the itinerary. Don't forget that wildlife is unpredictable, and we'll try our best to get close to them while always respecting their natural habitat.
