Guimarães Day Trip & Wine Tasting
Description
We'll meet at the indicated time under the Arco da Porta Nova and, from this point in Braga, we'll make our way south.
After a journey of approximately 30 minutes, we'll reach Guimarães, one of the most beautiful cities in northern Portugal. Firstly, we'll see the Castle of Guimarães, a 10th-century fort considered to be one of the Seven Wonders of Portugal. Here, we'll be able to climb the building and admire the stunning panoramic views of the city while we share the story of the country’s foundation with you.
The next stop will be at the Paço dos Duques de Bragança, a 15th-century palace that reflects the grandeur of the Portuguese nobility. Its interior will amaze us, adorned with tapestries, period furniture, and medieval weapons. A true journey into the past!
Our visit will continue through the historic centre of Guimarães, where we'll stroll through the maze of narrow streets, passing by old houses with traditional façades, small artisan shops, picturesque squares, and cosy cafés. After that, you'll have some free time to enjoy lunch at one of the restaurants in the city centre.
After lunch, we'll meet up again to head to a local winery in the centre, where we'll take a guided tour and enjoy a tasting of Vinho Verde. Cheers!
At the end of the tasting, we'll return to the meeting point in Braga, where we'll arrive 6 hours after pickup.
