Do you know about the heritage of northern Portugal? If you're in Braga, you can't miss this day trip to Guimarães, where we'll also enjoy a delicious wine tasting in a local winery!
Description
We'll meet at the indicated time under the Arco da Porta Nova and, from this point in Braga, we'll make our way south.
After a journey of approximately 30 minutes, we'll reach Guimarães, one of the most beautiful cities in northern Portugal. Upon arrival at our destination, we'll first go on a panoramic tour to admire the city's most emblematic monuments such as the Palace of the Dukes of Braganza.
We'll continue our tour next to the Castle of Guimarães, a 10th-century fort considered to be one of the Seven Wonders of Portugal. Our next stop will take place in Praça Mumadona Dias Square, where we'll talk about the fascinating story of the countess who founded the city.
Our tour will continue along Avenida Alberto Sampaio, where we'll see the Muralhas de Guimarães, the Garden of Largo Republica do Brasil, and the Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Consolação church. Did you know that it's one of the city's most emblematic monuments?
Next, we'll make our way to the Tanques de Couros to see the place where leather used to be tanned. We'll then continue to the Largo do Toural, where we'll see a tower along the city wall and the city's main square. After walking through the old town, you'll have 2 hours free for lunch.
After lunch, we'll meet up again to go to a local winery, where we'll have a guided tour and enjoy a Portuguese wine tasting—the highlight of the tour!
At the end of the tasting, we'll return to the meeting point in Braga, where we'll arrive 6 hours after pickup.
