Harvard Walking Tour
At your selected time, we'll meet at the Harvard metro, located at 1376 Massachusetts Ave. Here your tour guides, current students, will take you to the symbolic Johnson Gate which is one of the campus entrances. Welcome to the best university in the world!
During the tour, we won't be able to go inside the buildings of this iconic educational building, but we'll b able to admire its beautiful façades and grounds.
We'll stop in front of the statue of John Harvard, who was the university's first benefactor. If you want to feel like a student at this prestigious Ivy League university, then you'll have to carry out the tradition of touching the statue's foot for good luck. Obama, Kennedy and Roosevelt are amongst those students who did!
Next, we'll go to the Memorial Hall, a Victorian building built in honour of the Harvard students who fought during the American Civil War. The tour will then pass by the Widener Library, the largest on campus. Did you know that it contains over three million books?!
Then, we'll admire the Memorial Church and the Harvard Lampoon headquarters, a student magazine first published in 1876. Important writers and editors, including John Updike and Conan O'Brien wrote their very first extracts for the publication.
Finally, a must-see is the emblematic Winthrop Park where we'll finish the tour after an hour and 10 minutes.
