Arcachon & Dune of Pilat Day Trip+ Oyster Tasting
Meet us in front of the Cité du Vin Museum in Bordeaux, and we'll set off on an exciting day trip to visit two significant sites in the Aquitaine region: Arachon Bay and the Dune of Pilat!
Our first stop of the day is in Gujan-Mestras, the oyster capital within the Arachon Basin. Here, we'll indulge in an oyster tasting paired with a delightful glass of white wine. Additionally, if you'd like you can request an additional aperitif of shrimp, or pâté to enhance your experience even further.
As we indulge in the coastal flavors, our knowledgeable guide will share meaningful insights into the oyster farming culture of the region. We'll learn specific characteristics of the oysters from the Arcachon Basin, as well as a closer look into how they're harvested from the sea. It's sure to be an eye-opening experience!
From here, we'll then head to the Dune of Pilat. Did you know it's the tallest sand dune in all of Europe? As of 2018, it reached a height of 108 meters (354 feet) above sea level! We'll climb up the staircase to reach the summit of this sand peak for the most breathtaking views of Cap Ferret, the basin mouth, and the Banc d'Arguin. While atop this sandy hill, our guide will also share fun facts about this original ecosystem and its history.
Then, after 5 hours of invigorating adventure, we'll return to the meeting point in Bordeaux.
